Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO) at St. James needs you! If you are in grades 6-12, you are an LYO member via your membership at St. James. It is your choice how often and in what capacity you participate. This ministry is about providing a context through which young people can share in the openess of Christ by proclaiming through word, deed, prayer, worship, Bible study, fellowship, and service the gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Historically, the LYO is a place where the voices of young people are lifted up in the church through a variety of ways in which young people get together to discuss the issues that are important to them concerning youth ministry, the larger ELCA community, and the world. At St. James, we will be connecting to our Synod level and National level LYO for events as they are offered. We will also hold planning meetings and hold activities that appeal to a variety of youth.
Adults who serve as LYO advisors across the ELCA, stand with young people in this ministry providing support in immeasurable ways. The LYO at St. James is looking for adults to support our youth and future church leaders as LYO sponsors. Please consider in prayer and conversation whether you are called to this mission at this time.
